Paddling Around in Your Coleman Canoe

Canoeing is one of the nicest ways to spend a summer afternoon. Find a nice small lake and put your Coleman canoe into the water and paddle around the lake, following the shoreline as it dips in and out. You might take your Coleman canoe into a marshy area and sit there quietly, watching the birds and beavers go about their business.

Coleman canoes are lightweight and easy to handle. You can, of course, get big honking Coleman canoes, and they are great for taking the kids out on the lake. But you can get very light ones that one person can manage; some Coleman canoes are even inflatable. Because they ride high on the water, a Coleman canoe is easy for one person to launch from shore, too. You don't have to push out into deep water; just push your Coleman canoe out into a few inches of water, climb in and shove off with your paddle.

You don't have to choose the quiet side of the lake to enjoy paddling around in a Coleman canoe. Paddle down a stream instead; you can even handle a little white water. If you prefer excitement, take a friend and try some Grade 2 or 3 rapids

Fishing from a Coleman canoe is great fun, and you can mount a motor if you must so that you can get to your secret fishing spot quicker. A motor spoils the quiet and scares the fish off, but it does get you there faster. And then you throw your line in and sit back and wait for that first bite. Ah, yes. There aren't many nicer ways to spend a summer afternoon than paddling around in a Coleman canoe.
