Sheet Music

Back in the 19th century, musicians used sheet music to popularize songs in the United States. It was only in the 1950s that musicians started using sheet music in bands, enabling more people to hear their compositions. Sheet music contains notes in musical form that are either hand-written or in printed form for musicians to read and play. Sheet music is usually available in the analog form of books, pamphlets or parchment. Musicians use musical sheets to illustrate musical scores and perform them in a band or orchestra.

A music sheet is designed in two formats that are generally used for piano and organ music. The basic formats comprise of both the treble and base staff. The treble staff is used to symbolize higher notes and the base staff denotes the notes played at a lower pitch on the piano. Both these formats offer variety of key positions to a player. The notes in between the lines of the treble staff (the five lines) are called Every Good Boy Deserves Favor. The notes on the bass staff are called ACEG or All Cows eat grass.

A music sheet can include all kinds of tones and notes that contain flats, sharps and naturals. The flat and the sharp notes range in pitch from one to seven. Naturals improvise the musical pitch in a sheet that includes flats and sharps. This inclusion of a natural forms the C Major Scale. Music sheets offer variations the pitch by including Major and Minor scales. When a musical composition is designed for an entire orchestra using different instruments, a "score" is used. Musicians use blank music sheets to compose music. The most amazing part is that the music can be played and revived repeatedly.

Reading Sheet Music

Reading sheet music requires dedicated practice and the more you practice reading the sheet music the better you get. A person learning to play an instrument can only qualify as a professional musician if he knows how to read and write sheet music.

Sheet music is typical in orchestras, where music directors and other musicians need to coordinate to play symphonic songs that may cover many different vocal ranges and instruments. Sheet music teaches musicians to play songs and compositions by rote.
