There are many forms of entertainment available today. However, most people still prefer music. Some love to listen to music while some love to play a musical instrument. It is all a matter of choice. Music entertainment does not just include listening to music. It also includes singing, playing a musical instrument and even dancing.

Music has a relaxing effect on people and those with problems in their life turn towards music as a "get away". Music has the power to change the mood, from an angry or sad emotional state to that of the happy and joyous one. Some people like to listen to music once a while. There are a variety of devices like the iPod available for such people; easy to carry, with the ability to store a lot of music. Some people love listening to live music. These people are found at bars or restaurants on music nights. There are others who visit the pubs and discs on weekends and like to go footloose and fancy-free. These people usually work hard on weekdays and party all weekend.

There is a wide variety of music entertainment that can be accessed at home too. The days of having a jukebox, gramophone or record players are long gone. They have been replaced with CD and DVD players. The quality of sound has also improved. The concept of stereo sound is slowly fading with the introduction of digital surround sound. For decades, people have been listening to music on the radio. Satellite radio is becoming popular all over the world with its clarity. A wide choice of channels with virtually a channel for every genre of music has brought the radio back to forefront.
