Christian Music
Christian music has evolved from hymns that are sung at church, to gospel rock, progressive rock etc. and has gained much popularity recently. Contemporary Christian music carries a lot of meaning and the intensity of the music can be touching. The church has a choir, a pianist and a harmonist and together they create the tunes and sing hymns to praise and thank God, this was the original sense of Christian music. But like all other things, Christian music has undergone a revolution with the use of guitars, drums and non-organs etc; this is now known as Christian rock as is a generic of Christian music. This segment of Christian music has been able to relate with music lovers worldwide and spreading the word of God with vigor. The music is a language of God, and is found to be soothing to the mind and soul. The lyrics that are used in Christian music are words from the bible most often or relate to it in some way.
Christian music has blended well with the modernization of music, uniting the world with a common cause. The Internet has played a huge role in introducing music lovers to Christian music, and has become the primary source to this music as well. There are plenty of sites that offer the latest information, reviews of hits and albums released on Christian music. The groups that have been formed and play Christian music are also responsible for bringing in the global stage; some of these bands are Chris Tomlin, Jars of Clay, Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp etc. They have revolutionized Christian music to a great extent. For instance P.O.D is an acronym for Payable on Death and is based on the element that Christ died for the sins of mankind and so their songs carry Christ's messages to world. Similar bands carry the message of peace, love and influence people to discover the religion.
The concept that Christian music is a substitute no longer holds true and has picked up in the recent years even on the radio. The Christian radio channels have increased in number and the music now sounds like alternative, punk, rap music.
