ADVENTURE GAMES

Adventure games for pre-teens are hard to find, but not impossible. You know those difficult pre-teen years. These kids don't want to play "baby" adventure games, but they are by no means teenagers ready for the violence, sex and language that accompany most adventure games. What is a parent to do? Luckily, the gaming industry has recognized a need for appropriate adventure games in the pre-teen age group. Allow me to share some of the information I have found.

Flight simulator games are an excellent choice for gamers of all ages and skill levels. Fight Simulator X, from Microsoft, allows gamers to test their skill and heroism. What pre-teen boy (or girl for that matter) wouldn't enjoy the adventure games like these provide?

DreamCatcher has released Nancy Drew adventure games for the PC. I remember how much I loved solving mysteries with Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. Now a new generation of kids can enjoy the same thrill in a new venue.

Lucas Arts offer the Thrillville adventure games for PC. These games allow to build roller coasters, ride them, and talk with your park guests. It is the communication part of adventure games that pre-teens are seeking. This game offers a safe way to meet that criterion.

As to on-line adventure games for pre-teens, there are a few. I was particularly impressed with Cartoon Network's efforts at providing adventure games for the pre-teen set. Some of these may be a little immature. However, games like Stink Bomb Foolery and Savage Pursuit, should appease the masses. (C'mon every body loves a good stink bomb - admit it).

Lastly, my boys LOVE Runescape. I am particularly impressed with site. There is a lot of communication between gamers and a lot of action. Consequently, the site will not knowingly allow pre-teens players to play independently. Instead they recommend that parents play this adventure game (and all adventure games run by Jagex) with their pre-teen. In this way parents and children can spend quality time together and parents can take this opportunity to reinforce on-line safety with their pre-teen.

That's my take on adventure games for pre-teens. I hope it helped.
