Home Entertainment
Gone are the days when home entertainment meant a TV with a 21" screen, that used to be big, bulky electrical equipment showing grainy pictures, accompanied with a dull sound. And later, a VHS player added to it so that we could watch bad quality rented movies. Then, the stereo was different equipment that we could use to listen to songs either on tape or a radio tuner.
Since the digital revolution, home entertainment systems have come a long way. Though expensive, the quality is far more superior. The quality is a major factor that should be looked into when investing in any entertainment system. Apart from this, a major difference is that today, all the different entertainment equipment are compatible. A home entertainment center can be used to access music, movies, home videos, photos, cable TV etc. from a single device. A home entertainment center, thus also doubles up as a media center for a TV or a projector system. Any of the various devices available in the market, like a DVI, component video, VGA, S-Video or composite video could be used to make the connections desired.
When purchasing electronic equipment earlier, we all used to worry about the space that would be occupied. Now with the wall mounted TV, all the space in the room is available for other use and storage, while the big screen TV just hangs on the wall discreetly, that is, until it is switched on. Combined with mini-speakers that may be hard to notice when off, such home theatres are equipped with sound effect that is crystal clear and rich in quality even at high volumes. Even the real sounds don't sound as real these days, as compared to projections of the home theater speakers.
The home entertainment centers perform various functions from a single device like recording your favorite program from the cable and onto a DVD, to view it in your leisure time. You could also transfer photos from your digital camera or home videos from your camcorder to view it on the big screen. Some home entertainment centers also allow you to perform various functions simultaneously; watch TV in one room and listen to music in another.
