Travel to Nantucket

I have been going to Nantucket every September for nearly 20 years and I can never get enough of this beautiful island.

Cobblestone streets, gas lamps, miles of deserted beaches, great places to stay, wonderful restaurants, challenging golf courses and an appreciation of the architectural integrity and protection of open spaces are just a few of the reasons I love this place. When you travel here everyone feels like they're in on a wonderful secret....and one they don't necessarily want to share. September is the perfect month, the crowds are gone, the weather is perfect and everything is still open. We never fail to meet some great people during our trips.

This year we once again rented a house in Nashaquisset a charming little village just outside of town. On our last night, we moved to the Cliffside Beach Club where we spent a marvelous 24 hours that included a magnificent dinner at the on-property Galley Restaurant, right on the beach. The sunset was even better than Key West. Another new restaurant we tried was Sfoglia, a kind of communal and rustic Italian that was delicious.

We also enjoyed some old favorites, Toppers and The Company of the Cauldron.

I have traveled all over the world for BestWeekends and if I only had one more night to spend on this earth, it would be in Nantucket.
