Discount travel opportunities are available to travelers using all means of transportation. And the term discount means different things to different people.

Airlines offer several different tiers, or classes, of service with the least expensive seats being the closest thing to discount travel routinely offered. Discount travel in the air means small seats crowded closely together with few, or no, in-flight frills offered.

Discount travel by train usually implies no place to lay one's head for a gently rolling good night's sleep. Young travelers don't usually seem to mind this arrangement nor do those travelers on tight budgets or those not traveling far.

Seafaring discount travel can mean a small stateroom with no porthole through which to watch the waves roll by. Sometimes these smaller quarters sleep several people and sharing a room is required but all the on-board amenities apply to all.

Discount travel rates can also mean any travel arrangements made far enough in advance as to avoid the added expense of last-minute travel. Oftentimes, the earlier you secure the reservation, the less expensive the journey.

Students and senior citizens are quite often eligible for discount travel prices, too, although services aren't slighted in any way. If you fit either of these categories, be sure to mention it when making your travel arrangements.

Discount travel fares are often available when traveling in a group. Round up your friends, family, civic organization, prayer group, or book club members and pick a destination everyone can relate to. Remember, two's a couple but three or more is a party.

In these days when frugal is the new thrifty, don't be ashamed to ask for discount travel options. The money you save getting there is just more money to play with once you arrive.
