Diet Pills

Diet pills are everywhere. Turn on the TV; diet pills. Turn on the radio; diet pills. Open a magazine; diet pills. Go to your local drug store; diet pills. Go grocery shopping; diet pills. They must work, they must be good for you, or they wouldn't be everywhere. Not so fast. Diet pills are well marketed. As a society we are bombarded with false images of the perfect body. But are diets pills really Ok? And do they really work?

Your neighbor told you about her great weight loss success on diet pills. It's been four months. Have you looked at her lately? While it is true that many diet pills work in the short term, most of the effects of diet pills are not long lasting. The reasons for this are simple. When you first begin taking a diet pill you are motivated, excited and enthusiastic about losing weight. Once you excitement and motivation subside, no pill can keep you losing weight. Additionally, your body will adjust to the drugs in diet pills after a time.

Remember when you first began drinking coffee, the effect caffeine had on your body? You could stay up studying all night. Now years later you can have a cup of coffee before bed and still sleep. Such are the effects of diet pills over time.

There can be other side effects of diet pills. Those containing carbohydrate blockers can leave you feeling bloated. Ladies we all know that when you are bloated you don't fit into those jeans. Doesn't this defeat the purpose? Fat blocking diet pills also come with a price; gas, bloating, diarrhea, and poor absorption of some vitamins. You want to feel better, not worse.

There is no doubt some of the population can benefit from diet pills. But this should only be done under a physicians supervision. For most of us nothing can beat eating right and regular exercise. Get fit, not skinny.
