Gods Business

I have heard many people say that the pursuit of wealth is worldly and wrong. The Holy Bible tells us that man cannot serve two masters - God and mamon (money). This should be our first clue to answering this question.

God created a magnificent world, with wonderful resources for us to enjoy. He created gold and silver and gemstones. The problem arises when we look for these emblems of wealth simply to possess them. When we allow the desire for wealth to master us, we have allowed a serious problem to enter our lives.

Jesus told us to seek first the Kingdom of Heaven. This should be our first priority in life. It is our duty and obligation to seek a close, deep relationship with the creator and not the creation. Our first goal should be to establish ourselves firmly under the guidance of God's Holy Spirit. Let nothing of this world master us but let us master all things of this world.

The importance of Spiritual development should be at the top of our "to do" list.

I sincerely believe that each and every one of us has a purpose in life. That purpose is to learn to be His children. Throughout the Scripture we see God wanting to bless His people, His beloved creation. It is not wrong for us to pursue wealth. Just as we gather stones and wood and sand to build things, gathering wealth is fine as long as we are gathering it to use and build things to God's glory, not our own.

We are placed on this physical world to live in it but not to be of it. Just as God blessed David and Solomon, He wants to bless us. I believe that when we are spiritually mature enough to handle the things of this world, we will be good stewards of the things of this world.

As long as we look at wealth with a healthy spiritual attitude, we can master it and we can avoid it becoming our master. I believe that God wants each of us to develop and mature in His love so that we can develop and mature in our stewardship of the things of this world with which He blesses us.
